FAQ

Have questions or new to semi-permanent cosmetic procedures?
Please check out a few of the most frequently asked questions most of our clients have.

What is microblading?

Microblading is a relatively new, manual method that allows recreating, correcting and improving the appearance of the natural brow. This procedure is ideal for both people who have natural brows and those who don’t. The results are natural-looking and long-lasting. The microblading procedure is often considered a type of permanent makeup, however, it’s concept is different: the ink is deposited with a manual pen the blade of which is 3 times thinner and that allows technicians to draw crisp, thin and natural-looking hairs. The results often last from 6 to 18 months.

What is PhiBrows?

PhiBrows is a manual, semi-permanent technique of hyper-realistic eyebrow drawing in which the shape of eyebrows is calculated according to facial morphology and golden proportion (phi 1,618).

What is PhiBrows artist?

Artist is every person who has previously been a PhiBrows Students and successfully passed Craft Master application training.

Each Artist obtains a certificate, logo with the unique number, introduction to the PhiBrows map on the website.

If an Artist wants to advance, he/she has to practice hard, publish his/her works and follow all the changes in techniques and materials.

In order for an Artist to become a Royal Artist, he/she has to have the title of an Artist for at least 6 months.

He/she can become a Royal Artists after being proposed by his/her or some other Master. If all the Masters agree, an Artist is pronounced a Royal Artist.

How good are you with the shape?

Symmetry is calculated using the PhiBrows application. A Divider (compass) is used for precise eyebrow measurement according to the golden number 1.618. It is calculated while the clients’ eyes are closed because in that way mimetic muscles that can affect eyebrows’ symmetry are relaxed. Pictures of prepared shapes, as well as all other important information, are stored in the application, under the “Treatment History “section. Strokes are always drawn in the direction of natural hair growth in order to achieve hyper-realistic eyebrow look.

Does it hurt?

Everyone experiences different levels of pain tolerances, however I make every effort to keep you comfortable with topical anaesthetics. Most clients report feeling very comfortable while having their permanent brows applied. Most equate it to the discomfort from tweezing or waxing.

How long will it last?

For most microblading clients the pigment will be retained mostly depends on the skin oiliness. The oilier the skin is the shorter pigment retention is. Sweating and sun exposure also affect pigment retention. On average, expected time until new refreshment of pigment is 10 to 12 months. If the skin is oily, it takes up to 6 months. Healing is completely done 28 days later and then it is necessary to add the pigment that was lost in the meanwhile. If the skin is problematic and oily, several such corrections can be made.

Post-treatment care makes 70% of total treatment success. Conscientiously stick and adhere to the given advice, because if you don’t do that, you can lose up to 80% of drawn strokes. Rinsing and applying the cream is of great significance.

Every individual heals differently depending on a number of circumstances; skin type, oily skin, sun exposure, chemical & laser peels, health and hygiene can all have an effect on pigment retention.

Each procedure consists of two sessions, with the second session taking place 4 weeks after the first. The initial price includes the first and second session. Additional sessions are charged accordingly at prices at the time of service. After 1.5 years the procedure will need to be fully redone and will be charged at prices at time of service.

Please be aware that final results CANNOT and ARE NOT guaranteed due to the individual nature of your skin and healing ability.

What kind of pigments do you use?

I use only the best - PhiBrows Pigments. The PhiBrows Pigments are a special pride of PhiAcademy. The Academy invests the most in their development. PhiAcademy guarantees that the pigments are in accordance with RESAP 2008 at all times and that they are entirely safe to use. Their use requires professional training. They have been top quality for over 25 years.

What are your standards of practice?

Washington State doesn’t require much when it comes to cosmetic tattooing. So you’re right to ask! I adhere to the highest of standards in the industry. I received my training from the best in the world The PhiAcademy. I am certified for knowledge of blood born pathogens as required by OSHA. I am licensed and insured for practicing cosmetic tattooing. Everything I use is sterile, sanitary and disposable. After every client, the studio is cleaned and disinfected.

I have a few things going on, can I get this done?

Cosmetic tattooing is not recommended and in some situations, absolutely cannot be done when certain contraindications exist. This is by no means a complete list. Please call if you have any questions.

  • If you are pregnant or nursing you absolutely cannot get cosmetic tattooing during this time.

  • If you are currently on or have taken Accutane in the past year, you absolutely cannot get cosmetic tattooing done. Your system must be free of Accutane for one year – no exceptions.

  • Diabetic

  • Chemotherapy (consult your doctor)

  • Viral infections and/or diseases

  • Epilepsy

  • Pacemaker or major heart problems

  • Organ transplant

  • Skin irritations, Eczema or Psoriasis near the treated area (rashes, sunburn, etc.)

  • Acne in the treatment area cannot be worked on. You must wait until the treatment area is clear before getting a cosmetic tattoo.

  • Sick (cold, flu, etc.)

  • Botox in the past 2 weeks

How old do I have to be?

You must be 18 or older to get cosmetic tattooing. There are no exceptions to this law, RCW 26.28.085

How long does this take?

The session takes approximately 2.5 to 3 hours. This includes designing your brow shape, numbing the area and the procedure itself. Your touch up appointment will take 1 to 2 hours.

How many treatments are needed?

Correction is done a month after the treatment as 10-15% of strokes are lost after the first treatment. Inserted pigment is very dark during the first 5 to 7 days. 7 days later, it loses up to 40% of its intensity. If you think that pigment is too dark, do not try to fade it by yourself. Be patient, first wait for 7 days until it fades away naturally.

Getting your eyebrows cosmetically tattooed is a two-step process. The initial session, healing time and then 4 – 6 weeks later a touch up session. At the touch up I assess the color retention and make any adjustments needed. This second session is included in the initial price. After your second session, any additional treatments will be charged accordingly.

I’ve had my brows done before, can you correct them?

I take corrections on an extremely limited basis. If you’ve had your brows done at any time in the past, you must email me a picture of your brows BEFORE booking an appointment.

How clean is everything?

Super clean! The tools (needle and handle) I use are sterile, one use and fully disposable. For every session, everything is one use and disposed of afterward. My studio is fully disinfected before and after every session using hospital grade disinfectants. I maintain and practice all the Washington State standards of sanitation and universal precautions.

How do I make an appointment?

You can see my schedule and book online. To hold your appointment a deposit will be taken at time of booking. This amount will go towards your balance. Your remaining balance will be due at the time of service. I accept cash and all major credit/debit cards.
